These photos are from a guy who bought a used 1996 Hot SSpring Grande spa. He reasoned that, if he could fix the hot tub leaks, he would have a nice spa for his family. He has a big smile on his face since he fixed 5 of the 6 leaks and actually got it running.
Note the pipes buried in the foam in the first photo. Note all of the joints and connections. Each one a potential leak source. In some places you would have to dig in almost 3 feet to reach some of the fittings just to try to find the leak.
In all fairness, this is what I believe happened to this full foam spa. My guess is that winter subzero temperatures caused this particular spa to freeze. It probably froze after the power went out for several hours. Frozen water in pipes expands as it freezes. That is why there were so many leaks. Not likely to happen here in Hawaii.
But, these photos clearly illustrate why leaks in a full foam spa are so costly to deal with. This is an inherent problem with full foam spa design.
I'll shut up and let the photos and his comments tell the story.
